LG Optimus 3D Review

En route, the war in 3D. And if you are a fan or a skeptic, there will be two high-end phones, you can not ignore this summer that made the 3D technology. First out of the door (but only just) is the LG 3D Optimus. This is an engine specs, LG, promoting it as the world's first "Tri-double" smartphone architecture with its dual-core OMAP 4 CPU, dual channel RAM, and dual-channel configuration table. It's an animal, what criteria are used to measure bestiality.

There is more experience than technical though. LG did everything the revised user interface on top of Android as well as applications that support 3D 3D Optimus Tech. We gave Optimus 3D around for a while ', and put through the paces, so look after a break and see how the sum of its parts, in complex before it hits the AT & T later this summer, Thrill 4G.

We were lucky to get a pre-release unit of LG Electronics in the Google I / O, and Phil gave him more time to share some first impressions and give a solution of the phone. You can (and should) have a look, and here's the video itself to keep things in order and in a single page.

Hardware

From the moment you pick up the Optimus 3D, you'll notice a touch of quality. It is not easy to control at 168 grams (heavier than 4G Inspire, or even HTC Thunderbolt 4G), and everything is solidly built and fits very well together. If you picked up and I felt a G2X T-mobile, the same impression - a lot of tactile soft plastic coating, brushed steel and glass. We like to build the quality of LG latest mobile Android, and all good things continue Optimus 3D.

As we saw in the video, and the first thing you notice when you start looking at material that is twice the 3D stereoscopic camera on the back. They are both 5MP with autofocus and flash features a LED light them. The camera lens assembly protrude from the body just a hair, but the glasses themselves are very slightly indented. This is a specification in itself, because much of what most people want to do with Optimus 3D is to use the camera, and nobody likes to scratch glass lens cover. Covering both of them - each camera is covered individually with its own glass.

Software

The 3D comes with the user interface of LG Optimus Optimus new (version 2.0). It is very functional, very colorful, and probably all they want or need to get out of the box. It has all the players and applications built on you can think of - from stock quotes to a notebook, which includes social elements of Twitter, Facebook and MySpace. Our version of the software is not finalized, so expect some bugs here and there, but for most, the software worked as planned.

The application is tray to the right of the box. Before going to the Android Market, which has 51 applications, and as you might imagine, several of them wish they did not. And that's just the hand of LG in the application of drawer, you can imagine the carriers are adding a bit of their own. Not all applications are not desirable, is certainly not the case. Polaris Office and SmartShare are many excellent applications is paid, and I'm sure some people find that the "discovery" of the application as an application consultant for a nice addition.

There are two things that can be found by digging through the settings you want to talk for a minute.

One is a gesture of settings. 3D Optimus does not have the key "G" as it is a smaller cousin of the Black Optimus, so I was surprised when I saw the gesture tag settings. When you calibrate the sensor (you can do directly to the settings page), you can set your phone to silent when turned upside down, turn off the audio when you translate, or use the navigation movement in text input field. We have seen the first two a lot, but the text field, the navigation is pretty sweet - you can move the cursor on the screen by touching the edge of the direction in which you want to move. It works very well, and after use, I wish all phones were similar.

The other thing to mention is Froyo. The source code of gingerbread was available to all since mid December, and I bet that LG has had access to him more than that. I like new LG phones Android. I love what they do not reject the community of hackers. I love the lightning fast 3D hardware Optimus. I love her more gingerbread. LG has agreed to drop the gingerbread on Optimus 3D, and I'm sure they will, but as I mentioned earlier, this phone can suffer from slow updates due to specialized equipment. I really wanted to see 3D Optimus comes with the current software.

3D features

Optimus 3D Hardware 3D works. I know better than anyone imagined it would. But the real highlight in the software. LG is not just to give you a way of taking and viewing 3D images and movies that give content and direction. The application of the tray has a special category in 3D, and one of the first things you want to see is the guidance of 3D application.
It is a software manual, and most people never see anything because it's just a software manual. But this is useful. This is a 3D, so you get a little eye candy, but it is also full of solid, useful information on the 3D features of the phone. Good information, such as travel and viewing angle - you should read if you use the 3D functions. And you. They are not something you always play, but when you get the hang of them you'll be playing all 3D "stuff" more than I ever thought it would.

And then there's the 3D space ca. As mentioned earlier, you have all the 3D programs in their own section of the tray app, but you also have a dedicated program which is shorthand for all. Is it a bit redundant? Yes, but it's so well done, you will not mind. It is a 3D rotating carousel that looks amazing, and opens in 3D while on the phone. It would be a nice shortcut on your home screen to get to the programs you want to play with, except that the button of the 3D hardware is attached to the program, so you do not have to. Just press the button, spin the carousel and choose your poison beautiful.
Now would be a good time to talk in 3D mode. The stereoscopic 3D glasses, but you'll find on Nintendo 3DS 3D or HTC EVO. When you launch an application that is in 3D, you get a warning on the eyes, you'll want to read at least once before you reject it forever. Many programs have a 3D cursor, which adjusts the offset distance of the two images, and allows you to fine-tune the effect. Since it is primarily to cheat your eyes out of focus, it can be a problem. The wife of a good friend had something nice to say about it - he quickly gave him a terrible headache, and we heard people say about Nintendo's portable.
My own experience is a little weird. I need glasses since I was young, but I have to take my glasses to use the interesting things in 3D, and I also I have a headache. I can clearly feel behind my eyes - the same type of headache that is trying to read when there is insufficient light. With my glasses, no problem. I can use the battery or playing 3D games to video chat in 3D and no eye strain or headaches of any kind. I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation for this, but I am not reasonable or sine able to explain, I'll just sit there.
